I am assuming you are talking about the curved pipe coming out of the wall leading to your shower head. In order to change it, simply unscrew it counter-clockwise using a pipe wrench. To install the new one, make sure you use pipe sealing compound and wrap the jaws of the pipe wrench with tape to prevent the finish from marring.

The shower arm has threads on the end, as does the end of the shower head (behind the ball). The ball can be removed by gripping the knurled part that attaches to the shower arm with a pipe-wrench or a pair of "channel-lock" pliers, at which point the shower head can be replaced. Remember to apply plumber's tape or thread sealer to the shower-arm threads before re-attaching the new head.

You simply unscrew the head off the short pipe that comes out of the wall Most heads have two flats for a wrench, if yours doesn't, grip that part with channel lock pliers and twist anti - clockwise to get it off. Put Teflon tape around the pipe before refitting the new head.
