1) Remove the air filter manifold. It will clip on the air filter on one side, and there will be a ring fastener on the other.
2) For the 3 plugs on the driver side, use a 10 mm nut driver to remove the locking nut of the spark plug terminal.
3) Disconnect the harness from the plug terminal.
4) Pull out the terminal.
5) Use a socket wrench to remove the plug.
6) For the 3 plugs on the passenger side, you will need to remove the Radiator Coolant reservoir. This is fastened with 2 10mm nuts. Once removed follow steps 2 to 5 for each plug.
Note that on the Radiator it will state what the gap should be for the spark plug.
[Edit - Just finished doing it this way]
You can get to the passenger side plugs without removing the Radiator Coolant reservoir or the air filter manifold if you use a Universal and a 12" extension. You will, however, need to remove the flex conduit between the Air Filter Mainfold and the top of the intake manifold.

Doug Flutie was 16-37 with 287 yards passing against Notre Dame in the 1983 Liberty Bowl.
Both a friend and I, each driving 1995 Ford Explorers with the 4.0 L OHV engine, developed an off and on surging problem at speeds over 37 MPH. The problem was corrected by installing a new set of Ford Motorcraft platinum spark plugs. In my situation I only had 41,000 miles on the original plugs but 2 of them already had gaps wider than the specified range.
