you can reach them from underneath. they are hard to reach but it it possible i just did it todayIt is very hard to get to some of them. If you can't do it get someone to do it for you.Ok 02/19/2012 I had to change the spark plugs in my daughter's 98 transporter, I read all the other methods of getting to the rear spark plugs and although they were good I found that the best way to get to them and have room all day long is:Renove the two from engine mount bolts (8 of them) then jack the engine up from the bottom with a floor jack until the engine moved forward...remove the alternator and you have room all day long to get to the spark plus in the rear you can see all three and reach with with perfect ease.....!!! You can fit 3 migits and a 4 year old back there then!!! Total time 15 min.

pull the cables, remembering which cable goes to which cylinder. check for carbon build-up on cable ends to see if cables are still good. remove plugs using spark plug socket oily sludge on plu ends will show unburned fuel/oil clean cable ends of build up, etc. set air gap according to spec install plugs and torque to spec, about 19 ft/lbs. re-install plug cables, and you should be good
How do you change the spark plugs on a 1995 Honda Civic LX?
You will need an extension for a socket, the correct socket (I think 5/8 will work), and a torque wrench. First, use the extension and socket to screw onto the spark plug. Once it becomes too hard to turn it by hand use the torque wrench. Once the plug is out, take your new one (I recommend NGK) and thread it into place without using the torque wrench. Then once it is too hard by hand use the wrench and tighten to the recommended number (most likely 19 N). Repeat for the other three plugs. If I were you I would also put anti-sieze lubricant on the threads of the new spark plugs. This will make it easier to remove the plugs next time around.

Use my advice at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for what you do to your vehicle. For Jeep Cherokees with a 4.0 engine; (if you are standing in front of the vehicle looking back at the engine compartment) the spark plugs are on the left side / the same side as your battery. What look like spark plugs on the right side of the engine are actually your fuel injectors. On the exact opposite side of the engine block, all 6 spark plugs are held in place with a long rectangular box (called a coil pack) that has 3 small raised boxes on it. The coil pack is the length of the engine block and about 1 1/2 wide. There are 4 large approx 1/2 bolts that hold this coil pack in place. There is a plug on the back end / closest to the fire wall where you can upplug this coil pack but I couldn't unplug it. Simply, remove the 4 bolts holding the coil pack in place, lift the coil pack away from the engine block and the spark plugs are exposed. The boots that attach to the spark plugs are "fixed" in to the coil pack. Replace your spark plugs some type of using anti-sieze compound, adjust your gap, and torque to 19 lbs. NOTE: use dielectric grease on plug boots and coil pack ends of wires. can also be used on plug in bulbs. The above answer is great but if they are platinum plugs don't bother setting gap because you usually don't get a spec anyways and you do more harm than good. The gap is preset.
