Google and Yahoo are the only websites that can be a home page. the default home page is Yahoo and to change it to Google if you want, it will pop up as a question "do you want this to be your home page?". yes if you want it to, no if not.
You can change the google theme. Just search google theme and choose the one you like and you will have a new background for your google and google chrome
Google Chrome and Firefox are two different browsers. If you're meaning the Google search page, you can change your default search page to Firefox or any other search engine.
