Removing the camshaft position sensor is the easy part. Once you've located it on the end of the head (driverside, above the transmission, on the right side as you look at it) remove your air hose from your throttle body this will give you just a little bit more space to work on it. Once that's removed using a 10 mm socket untighten the four bolts holding it on. Make sure you clean all the oil off the magnet and clean up before installing the new one. Most 1995 neon require a replacement pigtail to attach the camshaft position sensor to the connector. Its called Wells socket 445 connector cost about $25. Make sure you match up the wiring and splice it in.

Your O2 sensor basically tells the computer how your engine and catalyst are preforming. A good one will sweep from 0 to 1 volt as the computer adjusts the engine from lean to rich. As it wears, it will function more slowly, or the voltage will be off slightly, thus causing your engine to lose performance. Since they are related directly to emissions, they will trigger your check engine light if they fail or become too far out of wack. They should be tested before replacing, because many other faults can cause them to have bad readings, but the computer doesn't know that, it only knows the reading is wrong. They are fairly simple to replace, they just unscrew from the exaust pipe, and unplug from the electrical. You will need a special O2 sensor socket, similar to a spark plug socket, to take them out.

The 1997 General Motors/Oldsmobile Achieva is a discontinued FWD vehicle. The vehicle will need to be safely lifted in a shop or placed on jack stands to access the O2 sensor. The downstream O2 sensor is located in the exhaust pipe aft of the catalytic converter. It has a quick release wiring harness that can be disconnected by hand. Then the bad O2 sensor can be wrenched off and then hand screwed back in as needed. The vehicle should then be restarted and scanned for OBD codes.

The O2 sensor is located in the exhaust pipe just ahead of the catalytic converter. Because of the top wire you 'll need to use a special slotted ratchet (Mitsubishi part MD998770) to remove the oxygen sensor. You might try first to get it out using an open end wrench.
