Behind the dash assembly, mounted to the HVAC assembly. The dash assembly must be partially removed to gain access to the blend door actuator.
It is under the dash on top of the HVAC module

It can be reached from under the dash, in front of the center console, driver's side. The center console must be removed to access the actuator.
It is your blend door actuator. Good luck! It is a cheap part but an expensive time consuming fix.

if it has dual air, there are two. One on top of the evaporator box behind the passenger side airbag and the other down below the evaporator box.

its your blend door failed or your blend door actuator failed. 1 of the 2 or both. cant find any info on tearing out dash in 03 mountaineer and it appears to me that my research says its in a different spot than other years.
