How do you change the blower motor in a 1995 GMC Sonoma?
Remove all the connections going to the ECM carefully. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the ECM in, remove the ECM. Take the coolant overflow tank out. There is a stud that held the coolant overflow bottle in at the back, remove this by prying it from inside the wheel well. The fan will come out easy after all this is removed.
The blower motors only work with the engine running. If the blower motor has three wires on the electrical plug, then the blower motor module is built into the unit & it's very expensive. Sometimes, you can tap on the motor with a hammer & it may work or slowly turn. If this is the case, replace the blower motor.
How do you troubleshoot the blower motor on a 1995 Ford Explorer EB if you found the cabin full of smoke and the control unit works but the new blower motor doesn't?
If the a/c compressor cools the air coming from the vents, and the heater knob makes the air hot, but the fan switch doesn't change the speed of the air coming from the vents, most likely the culprit is the fan switch itself, the blower resistor, or the blower motor. With smoke being present, there's a good chance the blower motor burned up.
It is on the fire wall (center), un-plug the connector, remove the three screws that holds the blower in place, on top of the blower motor is a inspection cover that has two screws, I removed them first, you do not have to remove the weight that is on the out side (three screws) un less you think it is in you way, good luck. I just had the blower replaced on my 1994 Jeep Wrangler Sahara and it is rather costly. First of all there are 2 blower motors, 1 is the heater blower motor and it is located behind the glove box. The other blower motor is for the A/C and it is located under the dash on the drivers side of the vehicle. It is labor intensive and cost me $240.00 and some change, not including parts…
The blower motor does not blow any air out of the vents in my 1995 GMC Yukon. How do you remove the rubber casing from the outside of the blower motor to change it?
The blower motor can be replaced on a 1995 Chevy truck by first disconnecting the battery. It helps to take a picture of the blower motor before dismantling, so that it can be put back easily. Disconnect all the wires from the motor, then remove the bolts holding it to the firewall. Replace with the new motor and bolt it in, then connect the wires. Reconnect the battery.
