remove the rear lens by unbolting it from the body the unscrew the socket and pull out the bulb. To be more complete, inside the rear doors there are two screws that hold the lamp assembly in place. Remove the screws. Then, there are two push-tabs next to the screws. You may have to pry a little between the body of the car and the plastic lamp assembly *while* holding these push-tabs down. You have to do this with the rear of the vehicle open. When you get it to pop off, you can close the rear doors and complete the job. If you have the version with double-swinging rear doors, be extremely careful to not catch your hand between the door and the truck while working in that area.
Unscrew the bulb by turning it coumterclockwise and it will come out of the assembly.
