Just got mine today and apparently...........................You Can't !
They removed the feature on Kindle 3
I suppose the argument being you can't adjust the brightness of a piece of paper and the Kindle is trying to replicate just that.
The answer is to buy one of those LED reading lights. Amazon sell a leather wallet protector and reading lamp for about £50 ($75) but I bought them on eBay for about £10 ($15)
if you have a kindle fire you can do this as it has a colour screen but i don't have a kindle fire so for the older kindle versions (keyboard etc) you cant as it uses electronic ink so you can read easily in bright sunlight
Tap the screen so the top bar appears (This shows your kindles name, time, wifi and battery information).
Put your finger on this bar and drag it down to the bottom of the screen.
Icons will appear under the top bar (Unlocked, Volume, Brightness, wireless, Sync and more)
Tap Brightness and move the slider with your finger until you have the brightness you require.
Hit the "soundwave" icon upper right corner. Then a "brightness option" appears up top.
You scroll down the little tab thing at the bottom and where you can lower volume or find out if there is wifi there is a button that say brightness. And you can adjust it there.

You can't really 'change' the screen savers but every time you power down your kindle the screen changes to a different screen saver each time.
Yes,You can type on a kindle and kindle 3G. Its touch-screen and has a keyboard. Its like a IPad but on a IPad you can play games but on a kindle you can only read.
The Kindle keyboard is better IMHO. The keyboard version has tactile buttons - instead of a touch-sensitive screen.
