I've replaced mine on my 1999 Saab 9-3 SE 5 door hatchback. I think the procedure is the same for the convertible. This is about a 20 to 30 minute project and requires no special tools.
1) Remove both windshield wiper arms by 1st removing the black plastic caps and then removing the nut below. You may have to wiggle the arms a bit to get them to free up from the splines. I think you have to open the hood to be able to access the nut on the driver side wiper arm.
2) With the hood open, remove the weather stripping that runs parallel to the windshield.
3) Remove the black plastic cover that covers the wiper motor and cabin filter.
4) Remove the old cabin filter and install a new one.
5) Replace the block cover, weather stripping, and reinstall the wiper arms.
