First, use the correct combination and unlock the suitcase. Behind the combination wheels, you will see a small orange slider with positions A and B. It should be in position A (up). With the original correct combination showing, move the orange slider to position B (down). Set the new 3 digit combination you want to change to. Move the orange slider back to position A (up.) Your new combination should be set now.
Heys combination lock embedded in side of suitcase, with a slide bar mechanism: Set lock to correct combination and slide open. With the briefcase that I have, I had to put in the unlock combination. Then hold down the unlock button or latch and while holding it down change the combination. Once you release the latch or button the combination will have changed. Try out the new combination to verify.
Set the combination: With the lock open, turn the shackle so it is 180 degrees from the locked position and push the shackle down. With the shackle pushed down, change the combination. When done, release the shackle so it pops pack up. To lock, push the shackle into the hole and turn the dials.
If it is an external U lock here is how i change mine:1. Enter the current combination 2. Unlock and spin the U bolt 180 degrees from the closed position 3. Press and hold down the U bolt 4. While holding down the blot, enter a new combination. BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO RELEASE THE U BOLT 5. Once desired combination has been entered, release the U bolt and try to open and close it. If is opens and closes freely, close it and chnage 1 number to see if it locks. If it does, you should be good.
If you have forgotten the code to your suitcase's combination lock, you can either use a hammer and screwdriver to disengage the latch, or if you have an immense amount of patience, you can set the dials to 0-0-0 and increment them, one digit at a time, until the lock opens. If you are quick and agile, you may be able to open the lock in ten to twenty minutes, however, if it is a four or five digit lock, it might take you several days to a week.
To reset the code on an Echolac suitcase, you should use the default code that originally came with the suitcase. If you do not still have the default code, it should be taken to an authorized dealer.
