You can buy the part in a kit form from a Volkswagon parts dealer. about £15 plus V.A.T. The kit includes a new barrel but you have to insert the 'keeps' from the old barrel. Beware, tiny springs that are easily lost. The 'keeps' must go in exactly the same order as the old barrel. If you do get them mixed up they have to all be flush with the barrel, on both sides, when the key is inserted. The problem is attaching the rod and paddle as there is a spring and it seems to me that the obvious way is to remove the handle itself. That is where I am up to right now. Any answers to this and I'm sorted! best of luck.

The power locks can only be engaged from the driver's door. You press down on the door lock on the driver's door and it will lock all the doors. Or you turn the key in the lock to the right in the door lock of the driver's door and it will lock all of the doors.

Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Remove the key. The driver's door will now lock and unlock itself one time. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least 1 second. Close the driver's door. Open the driver's door. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least one second. Close the driver's door. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob. The door will lock. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob again. The door will unlock. You should be all set.
