TAKE THE FUEL LINE OFF AT THE CARB.THAT RUN DOWN TO THE FUEL PUMP
you have to drop the entire pan since there is no plug and you might as well change the filter and gasket while you have it off
Definitely the 1972. 5 in the crank, 1 for the filter. As far as my experience has been, just about every Pontiac holds a total of 6 quarts with a filter change.
On the fuel line at the carburetor. there is a small fuel filter.
Take the dash apart ...
Where the fuel line connects to the carburetor you will see a large bolt. Unscrew that bolt and the filter will be located behind it.
More than likely 5 quarts with filter change. Park vehicle on level surface. Change the oil/filter. Add 5 quarts and start the engine. Run for 1 minute and shut down for 30 minutes. Check the level and add as necessary to reach the full mark. You now know the capacity.
It should be after the fuel pump somewhere near the carburetor if not attached to it.
More than likely 5 quarts with oil/filter change. Check the level after running the engine for 30 seconds and letting it sit for 30 minutes. Add if necessary to reach the full mark.
Better heads along with a different intake and carb. Bigger exhaust. A different camshaft. You would be the better off going to a 400ci.
