Answer 1980 5.7 fuel pump changeto change the fuel pump on a 350ci engine first find out if its fuel injected or carb. If its a carb then on the passenger side of the block a round disc like object with two hoses out the bottem will be noticeable one hose goes to the carb the other to the tank. undo the hoses some gas will be lost, then two 10mm bolts are on either side undo the bolts now remember the pump is under pressure because of a spring loaded arm that runs off your camshaft. now the pump should be off replace the pump but before installing the new one make sure you use a gasket or your 5.7 will have a very bad oil leak!!!!do not worry about putting the pump arm under pressure its not that much as long as you place the pump in the bottem of the hole then slide it up slowly till the bolt holes line up start off the bolts then tighten reconect the the lines and it will take a couple of cranks from the engine to prime the pump.If you have fuel injected the pump will be located in your gas tank (LUCKY you) you now get to drop your tank undo the the tank straps slowly lower the tank, you will have to undo the fuel lines on top of the tank first with a ground wire and sending unit harness once that's done pull out the tank. There will be a round lock washer ring that holds your sending unit use a small hammer chizel to spin the ring 1 quarter turn (becareful you might have to reuse this ring) then pull out the sending unit remember the float for your fuel gauge is attached to the pump in this case so again becareful.
