If you're replacing one bulb, always replace both. This ensures that the brightness of each is the same. Never touch a headlamp bulb or allow any debris to come in contact with the bulb. Never touch both contacts of a car battery at the same time. 1.) For the left headlight, you will want to remove the car battery before attempting to replace the headlight, because there is no room otherwise. You will need a socket wrench (14mm?) with ~9" extension to reach the front battery brace, and a 10mm wrench to unclamp the battery contacts. When those are unhooked, slide the battery forward 1" then lift up. 2.) Remove the plug from the back of the headlamp. It has three prongs, and may be very hard to pull. The plug has squeeze tabs on each side of the plug. These squeeze tabs are located on each side of the widest part of the plug. If you can't get it off, slide back the outer ring of the dust guard (rubber circle part) and skip to step 4. 3.) Remove the dust guard (rubber circle) from the plastic headlamp assembly. Slide back the outer edge first, then the rest will come off with a little twisting. 4.) Now you can see inside the back of the light. The lamp brace is a piece of stiff, bent metal wire secured by a screw on one side and a tab on the other. Push in on the wire where it meets the tab and pull up, so the brace swings out with the screw as a hinge. If you can't get the brace off the tab, just unscrew the hinge side, then remove the brace entirely. 5.) The burnt-out lamp can now be easily removed. Make a note of how the tabs of the edge of the lamp are situated, and then insert the new light. Replace the brace, with the angle of the brace pointing toward the light. 6.) Replace the dust guard. Push the outer edge onto the plastic assembly, then press in on the center, so the lamp contacts are clear of the rubber. 7.) Put some dielectric grease on each of the female contacts within the plug. Dielectric grease is available in small packets at your local auto parts store. Plug the plug back onto the light. 8.) Put the battery back in, making sure the rear tab is under the main battery brace, and the contacts are on the proper sides. Wrench in the front battery brace and clamp down the contacts.
