Put the bike on the center stand, put it in neutral, start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Let it cool down for about 10 minutes. Remove the oil dip stick on the right side of the motor. Place something underneath it to catch any spills. Place a small container that will hold at least three quarts of fluid under the drain plug. Take a 17 mm socket, (I think), remove the drain plug slowly, oil will flow out if you aren't careful. Recommend use of goggles and gloves. Remove the old oil filter, you can't miss it. Please make sure you clean the threads of the drain plug and where the new filter screws onto. Make sure you do not leave any gaskets on the engine from the oil filter. Place new fresh oil on the threads and gasket of the new oil filter, and pour some oil into the new oil filter to help prime it. Pour about 2 and 1/2 quarts of fresh oil into the hole that the oil dip stick fits into. Replace the oil dip stick. Clean up all the tools and work area, otherwise you know you'll catch it from the BOSS. Crank the bike and let it idle. Look underneath the bike and check for no oil leaks or drips. Let it run a few minutes, and let turn off engine. Let it set for a few more minutes and remove the dip stick. Verify enough oil is on the dip stick. You should be all done. Congratulations. You just saved some money. If you use synthetic oil, do this again in 5,000 miles. If using non synthetic fossil oils, change every three thousand miles.
