8th digit of VIN is engine code. If identical, then yes.
My 1997 Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo wagon had 218bhp standard. I can only assume the 1998 version was the same but they did make a few changes around that time. the standered subaru impreza has 200bhp and the superchared version has upto 300bhp.
A diagram for a 1998 Subaru Impreza can be found in a factory service repair manual. Local auto part stores are also connected to a computer database which will have a library of timing belt diagrams for every make and model.
The spark plug gap for a 1998 Subaru Impreza/Legacy with the 2.5L DOHC engine is .044".
Under the intake arch on the left side of the engine.
follow the bottom right hand pipe to underneath the engine remove pipe and then remove thermostat housing and replace thermostat the same way as it comes out.
as far as i am aware it is on the maf sensor, still looking into it
just under the dash by the fusebox there is two relays together.
