Open the trunk lid and remove the 2 bolts/screws on the outside where the trunk lid comes down. Remove the clips that hold the carpet in place on the inside and pull back the material. There is 1 nut inside near the corner that you must remove. On the side, you will see a white piece of plastic and a black one with the wiring clipped to it. Leave those alone. Pull straight back on the entire lens assembly from the rear of the car. You may see that the black piece of plastic inside moves a bit--that is because it holds a shaft in place on the other side. A steel pin on the taillight assembly slides through it. Once you have pulled the assembly off the back of the car, you can change the light bulb. (The sockets twist & come out of the assembly) I was stumped by this problem for months, this answer helped. Additionally-- if the assembly doesn't come freely when you pull striagt back, hit the inside bolt where you took the nut off with a hammer, then the whole assembly should pop out like it was supposed to-- make sure you have the other screws off first.
Its the brake switch on the brake pedal. Its a plunger like switch, its usually the only thing on the brake pedal. Its pretty easy and cheap to change.
BEHIND THE BRAKE PEDAL
Its most likely the brake switch. Its a plunger like switch on the brake pedal. Its pretty easy and cheap to change.
Could be bad brakelight switch or blown fuse
Its the steering colum
Go to dealership and buy a plastic piece that goes on the brake pedal to turn the switch on and off. This little plastic snaps into place. The insert breaks after years of use and can easily be replaced by holding the brake pedal down and push it into place.
Sounds like a bad brake light switch. Located above where you put your foot on the brake pedal.
Have you checked the fuses?
I'm guessing that you're referring to the switch that controls your brake lights. If so, it's located on the brake pedal assembly. It should have a small one or two wire plug attached to it and a locknut that holds it in a hole in the assembly. Unplug the wire and loosen the front nut and pull it out from the backside.
Check bulbs they are double filamented smaller for brake lights larger for tailights Check fuses Check stop light switch
They are two seperate circuits. Check the fuses and the bulbs.
