To change the serpentine belt tensioner on a '97 Cavalier W24 L engine, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the tensioner, then use a wrench or socket to rotate it counterclockwise, releasing tension on the serpentine belt. Remove the belt from the tensioner and the other pulleys, then unbolt the tensioner from its mounting bracket. Install the new tensioner, re-thread the serpentine belt according to the routing diagram, and finally, check the tension and alignment.

To change the serpentine belt on a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the belt routing diagram, usually found on a label in the engine bay. Use a wrench to relieve tension on the serpentine belt tensioner, then remove the old belt from the pulleys. Finally, thread the new belt according to the routing diagram, release the tensioner to secure the belt, and double-check alignment before starting the engine.
Yes, the serpentine belt runs the peripheral components on the engine. The timing chain is inside of the engine.
