I just did this on a 2006 Toyota Corolla this evening May 6, 2010. There is a Tensioner Pulley that is located directly above the Harmonic Balance Pulley. This tensioner Pulley has a "Notched" bolt in it that requires a special tool that I could not locate at any parts store locally. I used a large black crow barand pushed the pulley towards to firewall of the car and was able to release the belt from there. Make note of the proper pully configuration before removing the existing belt. Once the old belt is off, relace the new belt around all of the pulleys except for the alternator pulley. Once that is done, you should be able to push the tensioner pully back towards the firewall of the vehicle enough to slip the belt back on to the alternator. Good luck and be cautious not to get your fingers caught in the process.
