the book says to remove the exhaust manifold bolts so you have the clearance, i don't recommend this because most of the bolt heads will snap off (don't know why they put steel bolts into aluminum heads, should be studs) try removing a bolt out of the engine mount and raising the engine on one side (starter side) then remove the wires then the mounting bolts and remove the starter. reverse process to install.
