Step One: Disconnect Battery
Step Two: Jack up the truck on the driver side, if your truck is stock lowered. Stock normal ride height should be no problem.
Step Three: Disconnect the wires connecting to the starter (Remember which goes where). These should be about 10mm and 8mm sized nuts.(Some may vary)
Step Four: Theres about 4 bolts that hold on the protective plate that's attached to your bell-housing. You should be able to keep one bolt loosely in-tact and just move the plate temporarily.
Step Five: Theres two silver bolts roughly 12-14mm in size that hold the starter to the block. When removing the second bolt, be ready to catch the starter as it comes down.
Step Six: Grab the new starter, and reverse this process.

Disconnect the battery cable. Remove the bolts that hold the starter in place. Disconnect the wires. Instahlation is in reverse.

It is mounted on the starter motor itself. When you get another starter, it will have the solenoid mounted on it already. If it is bad, just replace the starter, I would not change just the solenoid.
