replacing the starter in a Colorado is an involved project, the starter is located under the intake manifold. for a novice mechanic it might take 8-12 hours depending on your tools and ability, i am a gm certified mechanic and it took me 5 hours to replace the first one i did. you have the remove the negative side of your battery (so there is no shock potential) put the drivers side of the truck up on a jack stand and remove the inner fender. then start removing the intake hoses to the throttle body all electrical connections and plastic wire loom holders. the alternator and idler pulley need to be taken out, then remove the bolts holding the air compressor on and slide it to the front. the intake manifold will also need to be removed (dont worry about the bolts falling out, they are made in to the manifold). there are a few misc. brackets i may have left out but you should always have a manual when working on a vehicle (sold at local auto parts store for around $5) good luck, take your time, if you get frustrated it is best to walk away for a few minutes and clear your head, J.D.
