Remove the Air Intake Box so you can see in below... there is a pipe running right into the bell where the thermostat is housed. There is one bolt that you need to take remove (it is to the right, below the distributor, it goes into the engine block). Then there are the other 12 mm bolts on the bell of the thermostat housing to remove. After removing those the thermostat should be able to come right out. When replacing i would recommend getting a replacement thermostat with a jiggle pin...
if the 94 probe is a GT, yes. the 2.0l alternators are different from the GT the autozone part numbers for the 94 2.0L Probe is 14449 and the part number for the 94 2.5L GT is 14450

First start would be to check the antifreeze and if that is full then I would check into the Thermostat and make sure it is stuck. If it is Full and heats up real fast then my guess would be the thermostat.

:On my 1995 ford probe, i was told there isn't a oil filter for that year so just throw the filter away and change the gasket...there actually is a filter in the transmission but its internal and the trany would need to be taken apart to access it.

Yes. body parts, interior parts and most motor componets are interchangeable. However, the 94 Probe is an OBD-I and the 97 Probe is an OBD-II so there are additional sensors on the 97 Probe to consider if swapping motors/wire harnesses, etc.
The thermostat on this particular vehicle is located on the right side of the engine. It is on the back of the engine block so use caution if you need to change it.
