up until the 1985 models of Subaru they didnt have timing belts. instead they have a gear that runs off of the crankshaft, making the older subarus(1984 and older) the most reliable cars ever made. i personally drive a 1984 GL 1.8L non turbo, and have done the rebuild. my ODO is at 259922.2 mi.
It would be best to change the timing belt at or before 100k miles.

You don't "set" a timing belt. There is no adjustment, either it's right or it's not. You change a timing belt at whatever interval Subaru recommends for your Forester. --Ken
105k is the recommended time.
Subaru does use a timing belt. Please ask a question that can be answered.
Subaru uses a belt.
I have a 2008 Subara Impreza. When should i change the timing belt? Do i also need to change the cogs, tension bars and water pump??
Subaru Forester has a timing belt.

there is no such thing as timing belt bearings...... are you posibly thinking of an idler pulley? or cam bearings?
Generally it is recommended replacing the timing belt and water pump on a 4 cylinder Subaru engine at 10 years or 100,000 miles, which ever comes first.
