you first buy proper gasket/filter+fluid .Then drive unit on ramps then remouve pan+clean gasket area ,thentake out old filter+install new filter,then reinstall clean pan w/new gasket.check manual to see trans, oil capacity then start engine +hold brake pedal+run gear selector through all positions+check level.Of coarse the van has to be off ramps+on level ground.Top-up oil slowly because excess oil hard to remouve.

The transaxle fluid should be changed every ofter according to the Honda recommended specifications. Honda recommended every 75,000 miles the transmission should be flushed.
You have to remove the trans. pan.
According to my factory service manual a 3 speed transaxle uses 5 quarts of transmission fluid.
