On my 65 with a C4 auto tranny you remove the transmission pan bolts (appx. 13), pan gasket, and fluid. The filter is bolted to the bottom of the transmission and is appx 8 in x 3 in and is oblonged shaped. The filter is held on by appx 8 bolts with one that has a larger head than the rest. The filter is available at AutoZone for $6. http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,63017/initialAction,partProductDetail/initialpartType,00543/initialR,2615046/initialvehicleId,1849303/shopping/selectZip.htm I believe there is no filter on a manual tranny.
