Remove the pan from the bottom of the transmission. There is no drain plug. Remove bolts from the the front and loosen the rear bolts so that the pan will tilt and the fluid drains out into a container. When you get as much fluid as you can, take out all bolts and lower pan. Filter is inside. Will have bolt holding it or, as mine just a tight fitting on the spout. Replace filter and gasket. a 96 takes 5 quarts, recommended Dextron 111. Hope this helps.
Are you sure your vehicle has one?
4 and one half qts with filter change.
Inside the transmission
unbolt transmission oil pan, if it has drain plug drain oil first, if not unbolt it and drain it, filter will be right in sight, pull it off, push new one up there
yes
had to do this a few months ago you have to drop the whole fuel tank ,,its small so its not a big deal but to change a filter you'll have to do that , i had the screen clog on mine
Down the automatic transmission dipstick tube.
dextron iii
NO. They are different.
6 quarts
The GMC Sonoma 2.2 litre manual transmission hold 12 quarts of transmission gear oil. Keep in mind there is a big difference between gear oil and automatic transmission fluid.
change your transmission fluid and transmission filter if the problem persists then your transmission is most likely no good.
