That is not true, there are 2 belts, one to power alt-water pump and one to power ac-power steering. They are both serpentine belts. There is no Serpentine belt on a 2.4 liter optima, there are 3 drive belts only
There are "v" belts, "serpentine" belts and "timing" belts.

Toyota Echos have a timing chain rather than a timing belt so there is no need to change it.
If your Tercel has power steering, use a 14mm socket to loosen the two bolts that secure the power steering pump. Then turn the long jacking screw counterclockwise to loosen the serpentine belt.
