There are a couple of ways to open the trunk on a Hyundai Accent. The trunk can be opened by using a key or by using the hood release latch inside the car.

Inside the trunk or hatch on each side there are plastic access panels. Remove these panels to get access to the sockets which are twist locked into the reflector housing.
There could be an electrical problem stopping the trunk from shutting all the way. The solenoid that closes the trunk could be weak or out of adjustment.
