How do you change Google Chrome to a default browser instead of internet explorer?

Using the IE menu click on 'Tools', then click on 'internet Options', then click on the tab 'Programs'. You should see a button 'Make Default' under the heading 'Default Web Browser'. Click that button to make IE your default web browser. Answer:Methode 1:
Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools > Internet Options
Click to the Programs tab
Click Reset Web Settings
When the pop-up menu comes up, select Yes. Methode 2:
Open Control Panel and double-click Internet Options.
Click the Programs tab.
Click to select the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
Click OK.
Start Internet Explorer and when you are prompted to make it the default browser, click Yes.

∙ 13y agoIf you only have one browser, like internet explorer, that is your only browser and therefore your default browser.
But if you have two browsers, lets say Mozilla firefox and internet explorer, open up the browser you want to be your default and a message box should pop-up, saying " 'which-ever browser you have open' is not your default browser. would you like to change it so that it is? " or on the similar to that.

∙ 9y agoIn order to change your default browser, you will need to open the browser you want to use. Once you have the browser opened, there will be a section in the settings that will allow you to set the browser as the default browser.

∙ 12y agoIt differs based on what browser you want to make default.
usually when you open a new browser it asks you whether you want to make it default or not. if you are not asked. follow these steps.
if you want to make a firefox browser default then go to >> firefox menu >> options >> advanced >> then click on general tab. under the system defaults you can find a button called check now. if Firefox do not be you default browser then you will be asked whether you want to make it default or not. just click yes you are done.
if you want to make chrome your default browser then go to setting and at the bottom of the screen you can see a button "make chrome my default browser" if chrome is not default already.
if you want to make internet explorer the default browser then go to tools>>setting in IE8 or lower or setting >> internet options in internet explorer 9 and click on programs. you will see a button called make default if internet explorer is not the default browser.

∙ 13y agoMake Firerox your default browser by going to 'Tools' -> 'Options'. In the Options dialog box navigate to 'Advanced' tab and under System Defaults column check the 'Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup' checkbox.

What does it mean to default Google chrome?
Defaulting Google Chrome means that Chrome will become your default web browser. If you had a link to open an internet connection it would open instead of Safari or Internet explorer, whichever you may have had.

It cannot open when you click Internet Explorer. You could be opening an HTML page which could be linking you to the default browser.
