It is not possible to set a password on the home scree but if you want to set up a password on the lock screen then follow these steps:-
1.First tap 'Settings'
2.Then tap 'General'
3.Then tap 'Pass code Lock'
4.Then tap the second button on the screen
5.Feed your 4 digit password,then re-enter
AND FINALLY YOUR PASSWORD IS SET, THEN GO TO THE LOCK SCREEN USING THE OFF BUTTON (TAP IT ONCE) DON'T HOLD IT FOR A LONG TIME JUST TAP IT ONCE
