You will need to identify the refrigerant type by looking on the front of the engine area for a r134 number. This tells you to use the current refrigerant. You can purchase the R134 in any auto parts store with the adaptor necessary to fill the system. If you are not sure on the refrigerant type, take the car to a Jiffy Lube or Quick Oil Change shop that offers a quick A/C charge.
Meanwhile if you have the R134, and the adaptor, you need to start the car, start the A/C and connect the adaptor to the low side connection, usually marked with a blue cap or small cap on the A/C system.
Follow the directions carefully on the A/C refill cans. Any overcharge could be dangerous and damaging to the system.
you can have a licensed r-12 mechanic charge it for you or you can get the r-12 to r-134a adapters for it, but you have to change the dryer.
