How do you chat on Animal Jam?

Follow these steps to enable chat on Animal Jam.

When your Player Account is created, you start off with Limited Chat. This chat lets you type, but only with words approved by Animal Jam HQ.

Here is how to change your chat option.

The only way you can change your chat type is with a Parent Account. When you create your Player Account, you give your parent's email. Get onto that email account, find the Animal Jam activation email, and click the activation link included.

(If you deleted your activation email a long time ago, go to this link: http://www.animaljam.com/parent_activation, and put in your Player Account's info to receive the email again.)

You should be taken to a Parent Account activation page, where you choose the password to your Parent Account. Type in your password twice and confirm the Parent Account.

You are then taken to the home page and will have to log into your Parent Account again. Click "login" in the message "Parents login here!" at the top of the home page.

Once you are logged in, you should see a list of all the Player Accounts under the parent's email.

Click the username of the Player Account's chat you wish to change. A drop-down list should appear. If there's only one Player Account under your Parent Account, then the drop-down list should already be there.

Look under the middle column "Chat Options". In that column is four options: "Type", "Limited", "Bubble" and "Restricted Bubble".

"Type" is when you can type whatever you want, with norestrictions. As said before, "Limited" is when you can type, but only with Animal Jam-approved words. "Bubble" is when you can only select pre-made messages made by Animal Jam, but you can still see typed chat from others. Lastly, "Restricted Bubble" is when you can only select, and see, pre-made messages made by Animal Jam.

Select whatever chat option you'd like. You do not need to press a "Save" button or anything, it changes right when you select it. After your selection, simply log out of the Parent Account and log into your Player Account.
