Go to Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance and click on System. It'll show you the system information, which include the speed of the CPU/Processor. It'll probably be shown in GHz (Gigahertz).
Control Panel> Performance and Maintenance> See basic information about your computer. For Windows XP
Windows XP: Right click "My Computer" and click properties. Windows Vista or Windows 7: Right click "Computer" and click properties. Even easier, press "Windows Key" and "Break" simultaneously on your keyboard and the same window will appear. This will display system information, CPU speed, memory size, etc.
you need to check and see if the computer you have can meet the hardware requirements of XP before you do that. Dont format your drive until you are positive that your computer has the necessary disk space, ram and speed needed to handle the massive load of XP
You an expand the buffer in your xp computer by adding more ram in your computer. This will speed it up.
It is safe to overclock an AMD ATHLON XP 2200 CPU without tweaking the core voltage. However, if you do plan on overclocking to a higher FSB speed, then you will need to come up with a plan to cool the processor as the heat that the CPU will produce will be enormous.
Operating systems don't have a "speed." The faster the computer is, the better the system runs.
If you are running XP Home, you should only have the need for one CPU. If you have a newer computer it may show 2 processors if you have an Intel processer with HT (HyperThreading) this allows Windows XP to act is if it has the resources of two processors when in reality it only has one physical CPU.
If the software everything is ok then you have check the thermo paste which is between the radiator and the cpu. You might have a bad thermo contact over there. so what em i looking for when i check the thermo paste
Right click the taskbar and choose Task Manager and click the Performance tab.
There are hundreds of reasons for that. First of all you need to check your computer for viruses using a good antivirus. After that you need to make sure that you have no application which slows down the entire system (registry cleaning might necessary). You need to check your hardware, especially the CPU which can have to high temperature.
Clarifying the question. Currently running WinXPPro in this computer, which is not mine, I want to connect my HHD (350gig) temporaly and be able to choose from which to boot. My HHD as XP Home, will it affect my lincense from Microsoft?
Yes, Microsoft Windows XP is Capable of Multi- user and Multi Tasking..but the speed depends on the computer configurations....
