If you are using windows PC then just follow the following:

1. Click the start button.

2. Click 'My Computer' or 'Computer'

3. Select the drive you want to check for errors.

4. Right Click, then hit 'Properties'.

5. Select the 'Tools' tab.

6. Click "Check Now"

7. Tick one or both:

  • Tick "Automatically fix file system errors" To Check and fix errors on hard disk.
  • Tick "Scan for and attempt to recover bad sector" to scan and fix files located on bad sectors of the disks.
  • Untick all to start a normal scan (without any fix)
  • Tick all to scan and fix any errors that will be found on disk.
8. In later versions of windows, the system will prompt you to schedule a restart. Schedule it and restart the system. It will run Disk Check upon start up.
