How do you check the pcm on a 2000 Ford 7.3 diesel?
It is located inside the vehicle by the e-brake. it is a plastic box. It will have to bolts on the inside and one under the hood that hold the wiring harness in.
I have a 2000 plymouth prowler v6 check engine code reads p0601.if i reset the computer it will come back on at restart.?

On a 1997 Ford Ranger : The PCM location should be the same as on my 1995 Ford EXPLORER ( if you look in the engine compartment at the firewall you should see where the wiring harness is bolted to one end of the PCM , it is towards the passenger side of the vehicle , and most of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment )
In the fuel tank through the PCM with scan tool It is not in the tank. It is located in the trunk on the inside of the left quarter panel. The PCM relay is relay # 4 in your power distribution box in the engine compartment , also in the PD BOX in location # 6 is a 10 amp mini-fuse for the powertrain control module and in location # 8 is a 30 amp mini-fuse for the PCM relay . Ford recommends disconnecting your battery before servicing fuses/relays in the PD BOX which means your Ranger has to re-learn its idle etc.
