I once had the same problem in my 89 Sunbird turbo. The computer "ECM" went bad and the speedo stopped working. I would see what ECM codes you have causing the check engine light and go from there.
The ECM seldom goes bad, it can but it rarely does. A faulty crank sensor could give you those same symptoms. Check all other possibilities before you condem the ECM.
A check engine light, poor performance and in some cases no start.
see CEL page and BAD ECU PAGE. here world wide web dot kick-fix dot com (<dig?)
how can i check sensor to see which one is bad on toyota avalon
To check the ECM on a 2001 Toyota Tundra, you will need the user manual.
Bad ECM or ECM relay.
Yes, it can. So can many other things - check for codes in ecm.
When a O2 sensor goes bad the check engine light will illuminate. The code set in the ecm will lead you to which O2 sensor is bad.
check the library at legacycentral.org
Check your shift cable, check your torque converter, check the shift solenoid, pull codes to see if it's an ECM issue.
Yes
