It requires a scan tool and a special tool that only the dealer and transmission shops will have.

As far as I know there is no automatic transmission fluid level dipstick on a Lincoln LS , the dealer has a way of checking from underneath the car
It requires a special tool that only the dealer has.
transmission down shift after fuild change
This vehicle does not have an automatic transmission dipstick for measurement. To check fluid level, the vehicle needs to be raised up on a lift and must be level. From underneath, locate a small plug on the passenger side of transmission housing. Remove that plug and if the transmission is full the fluid will dribble out the opening. If fluid is needed it is added at the transmission fill cap on top, drivers side.
I own a 2003 Chevy cav, with on dip stick, you can not add trans fuild, you must take it to a shop that works on that kind of car.
With the egine and transmission at normal operating temp and the car level you remove the small pipe plug located at the output same of the right front axel shaft. A small amount of fuild should run out. If it doesn't you add fuild until it does, then reinstall the plug. Be careful because the fuild is HOT!
C stands for where fuild level should be when COLD, H stands for where fuild level should be when HOT.
I suggest you check to see if the transmission fuild is low or take your car to the dealer to see if something is wrong with the cars wheels or the transmission.
Your transmission will need rebuilt, but first have someone check the "Ban"adjustment!Check the fuild level, make sure it is up to snuff .(or full)
