hello, my gecko, spotty, passed on last friday. i was shocked by its death, which after much research, I found out that it is mandantory to clean its cage once a day. i thought this was way too often, since i already cleaned its cage every 3 days. but apparently it needs to be cleaned more often than i thought. i hope this helps, and good luck with your new gecko! [This answer is dedicated to Spotty- RIP] (12/25/08- 1/2/09)
First you put your gerbils in a spare cage (which you should have gotten when you took your gerbils home.) Then, you take all the toys and stuff out of the aqarium. (This is how you clean an aqarium. An aquarium.) Then you dump all the litter/bedding into the garbage. Then you put new litter/bedding in the aqaurium and then you put the toys in a new arangment and then you put the gerbils in the aqarium. Do that once every week. Once every two weeks you should bleach it with non toxins and the toys, just not wood ones.
its quite hard to explain in words but i will try anyway, i reccomend going on YouTube and researching it. it is done very clearly in some places.
1. remove ur gecko and put him in a small box WITH AIR HOLES!! make sure of this.
2. It is easier to remove the top of your vivarium it there is one but if not you can just open it through the front.
3. remove all the equipment like the background, the themometer etc. Until there is nothing left but an empty tank.
4. soak up all the excess water with paper towles.
5. in a bath or a large sink wash all the equipment like the background and stuff.
6.dry it so it isnt absoloutly soaking.
7. Every month it is advised to disinfect your vivarium so do that at this stage every month.
8. Place all the stuff back in (move it around a bit, make it exiting for ur gecko).
9. Put your gecko back in the vivarium and your finished.
u take out the gecko and all the dirt and stufff and then u put water in it and dry it then put everything back
I have a leopard gecko. you don't wash a gecko. the only substance you should be putting on a leopard gecko is a small dab of neosporin if it has a bite from a cricket or another animal
If it is a baby or juvenile, take a flat bowl and put about 1/8th- 1/4th inch of luke warm water in it. Then set your Leo in there. Never leave it alone!
For most Geckos I suggest cleaning the tank about once every month.
no
most can, leopard geckos, bearded dragons, crested geckos...
Crested geckos are native to the green areas of New Caledonia off the coast of Australia.
no, they can't
Yes, they can. Geckos are very sensitive.
Flying geckos are from the Gekkonidae family Cresteds are from the rhacodactylus family
if they are babies... if they are adults they need a 20 gallon tank. you will need to give them more height then floor space
They are reptiles.
Leopard geckos or Crested geckos. Make sure BEFORE you buy the gecko you read as many articles you can about it. And remember only ONE male per tank! Good luck!
Crested geckos are solitary creatures, only interacting with the same species during mating season. Although females can be hosed together, you will always have one in a dozen that is just not compatible with tank mates. Mixing species is something that is usually done for displaying animals at zoo's or for research and is usually only done in tanks that are 100Gallons or more. I would not recommend housing any other animal with a crested gecko.
Crested geckos are semi aboreal species, preffering to be off the ground in a bush/tree/shrub, rather than low to the ground. This species preffer a taller tank over wide. A 12x12x18 or bigger is the most suitable and ideal terrarium for one adult crested gecko.
Crested Gecko. Golden Geckos are much faster and don't like being held. Get a crested gecko.
