To clean the carburetor on the 1979 Suzuki GS550, it is a good idea to empty the carburetor and remove all fuel lines. Then, replace the float and valve in the carburetor and clean the bowl. Fill the carburetor with fuel and flush several times.Ê
Just drain all the fuel out of tank. Drain fuel lines to carburetor. You could remove the carburetor and clean it also, but it will likely start with out that. Might need to clean the spark plug as it will be dirty. Your motor will smoke excessively for the first while and might to run rough, but it should be fine after a short time.

Im guessing this is a petrol lawnmower. sounds like the float is not set at the correct level in the carburetor
