This happened on my Laguna with the electronic parking brake.
It transpired that it was the Clutch Position Sensor had gone.
Fortunately, mine was still under a warranty from the dealer, so they paid for it, but it looks like an easy enough job if you get the part and have some tools...
The park brake should automatically release when the car is put into drive. If it doesn't, look beside the parking brake pedal and you should find a small metal lever. Pull it, but make sure that your hand is clear. It should release the park brake instantly. Then have a mechanic diagnose why it isn't releasing automatically.

Check Hanbrake, Brake fluid level and Clutch fluid level. It could be any of the three.

take it to auto zone and ask them to check and then clear the codes or remove the positive battery cable and press the brake pedal for 30 seconds.
