You clear the code by using a code reader/re-setter or disconnecting a battery lead for a short time. However, this will not fix the problem and the error will come back. The real fix for this on most cars is to clear the egr valve and the passages used by the valve, many times at the intake manifold. Sometimes a vacuum leak or faulty egr solenoid will also cause this problem. If you have a lot of miles, it is likely clogged ports in the intake manifold where the gases cool and tend to carbon up. Not a real easy job.
