The best way is to take your vehicle to a parts store (NAPA, Autozone, Advanced) & have them plug in their scan tool. That way they can read the code before they clear it. Another way (less desirable) is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes. This will also clear your radio pre-sets & sometimes make your computer "re-learn"

with a scan tool, you can go to your local auto shop and they should scan the cars pcm for less than $30.00. or you can go to your local auto-zone and they will read it for free, but mind you it will not be that accurate and they can only read codes they cant clear them.
