You clip a parakeets wings the way you do any other birds. You hold tall of the wing feathers in one hand then you have to look for the 6 non-nerve feathers there is only 6 on each wing but to be safe I would suggest that you bring your parakeet to the vet they will do it for most likely around $30.00 which is not to bad compard to if you cut the wrong wing and had to go to the vet for an emergency.
NO NO NO!!! Take it to a little place I take my bird called, The Bird Shop. Look for it in the phone book. They will clip small bird's wings for only $3.00 and clip their nails for only $2.00. MUCH BETTER THAN DOING IT YOURSELF!!!
This is a step by step way to cut your birds toenails. I have listed how to cut most birds toenails whether it is a canary , parakeet , finch , parrot , cockatoo , etc. (the only difference is that if you have a bigger bird you let it stand on you instead of holding it)
HOW TO CUT A SMALL BIRD'S TOENAILS
yes clip their wings If you clip any bird's wings to the same length, they will still be able to fly awkwardly. When you clip a bird's wings for the purpose of stopping them flying, be sure to just clip the long flight feather at the end of one wing, not both wings. Be gentle, and be sure not to cut the bird itself.
can sun parakeet have 15 decimetre wings
If you had your parakeet's wings clipped then they are probably growing back now. Your Parakeet might be flapping to see if he or she can fly again yet. All species of birds occasionally flap their wings around as a form of stretching exercises. So your parakeet may be stretching or exercising, which is good as it helps their lungs, chest and wings develop.
Clip their wings.
around 25 clicks (kilometers)
Yes, if you clip their wings they will be able to fly again eventually. It takes about six months for them to grow back, but they will.
there is a video called 'Nature sounds budgerigar calls for contented and healthy pets' which make the parakeets chirp when they hear that sound you can put some food out side if you have loved him/her your bond will birng him/her home.when you get it back clip it wings when you get the parakeet back.though dont get your hope up. this happened to me and i regret not listening too my parents.hope you find it.
This question doesn't make any sense. You should never clip a birds wings.
maybe, it really depends on how you hold it and if it's wings are clipped
If the parakeet is also holding its wings out away from its body, the parakeet is too hot. You can spritz the bird LIGHTLY with cool, NOT cold, water and it will help. If you have a bird bath you can attach to the cage, or that the parakeet can use inside your home, that would be good also. Never put a parakeet in direct sunlight on days when the weather is 100 degrees F or over. They are also sensitive to cold. If the bird is wheezing but is not holding its wings out, it might be a good idea to take it to a veterinarian, because it may be sick.
There is no age it grows to there tail
You would clip the feathers on the wings of a turkey so that they can't fly. This would disable the turkey's ability to lift itself with its wings.
