cylynders x heads x sectors x 512 bytes = () /1024 to convert to kilobytes =() /1024 to convert to megabytes
the question is asked from the text book however the answer is do your homework yourself as it should be
although the proper formula would have been useful i typed in a search how to calculate a hard drive capacity an was redirected to the exact question from the book thus how i know what that answer says i separated it and provided the formula above as i thought it would be useful for people who are attempting to do there homework themselves
just a thought to add to the other answer though the internet is a great resource don't let it make you lazy
The storage capacity is measured in "Bytes".
In a computer, you have to compare the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) storage capacity, often in "GigaBytes" (billions of bytes)
The more the HDD's capacity is big, the best it is.
If you mean How do you calculate hard disk capacity then there are two ways.
First if is installed you simply right click on the drive and left click "properties"
It will tell you the capacity.
If it is not installed and you have it in hand, the capacity is printed on the label.
The largest commercially available hard drives are typically about 1.5 TB (1,500 GB) in size.
As far as physical objects go, Max sotarage capacity = area of inside of the object.
Run reimage.com's free 5 min scan, it will give you a report on your hard-drive and its capacity V's the recommended average. It will also look for missing files/ viruses and spyware for you.
blah !
The IDE interface is limited to 528 megabytes hard disk capacity
It depends on how much you bought your PC or the hard disk itself. My current hard disk has a capacity of 400 gb.
depends on the computer
The reason is that the technology of the days the floppy disk was not as advanced as of today.
Depends on how big your hard drive is.
10 MB hard disk
capacity type and speed of the hard drive
A hard disk is what all your files, including the Operating System are stored in. There are many sizes of hard disk and what the capacity is.
hard disk
yes, because hard disk capacity range from 10 megabytes while tapes capacity range from few hundred kilobytes to several gigabytes.
A 1 TB disk is twice the capacity of a 500 GB disk. I TB = 1000 GB 500 GB = 0.5 TB
