As you collect the keys necessary to enter the buildings or lower the drawbridge, you can get the two parts needed to complete the Mech walker. You will find the island residents as you destroy some marauding creatures that forced them to hide away for 200 years.
The End Battle (Hydra Head)
The "triple boss" at the end of Steamworks Island is a less strenuous version, a cross between the Dragon (from Astro Knights Island) and the Hydra (Mythology Island). You are faced by a huge beast with the Hydra's extendable head. Riding the Mech, you have to provoke it by getting very close, then duck (or jump back) before it strikes, shooting it with the Toxic Gun as it retreats. Jump in, duck, shoot. Repeat this three times to knock out the beast.
But there are three nearly identical beasts. Climb a level to the second one, which fires discus-like projectiles as well as the head-butt action. Shoot the projectiles, duck, then shoot the creature, three times as before. Climb to the final level, which has a triple threat. It has the second level's projectiles, but also bomb-like worms that drop at you from the ceiling...while the projectiles are firing...while the creature tries to head-butt you. The best policy is keep shooting no matter what. Hit the third creature three times and you have defeated the island.
But one codocil : while you are only slowed if you are hit, there is a timer. The battle chamber is filling with deadly acid. If you take too long to kill any one, or all three, you may get caught by the acid and have to start all over!
