There will be a period when perhaps you don't want to get over someone. It's easier to brood about it than move on and that's just fine for a while.
Eventually, you will need to get out of that phase and the best thing to do is to find things to do. It can be anything that demands some effort on your part. Going out with friends can work. Catching up on homework perhaps (No, really, don't laugh - it can get your mind focused on something other than him , or her). Make arrangements with other people to do things. It's much more likely that you will actually do it if you've arranged with other people.
After a time, you will notice that you don't think of him (or her) all the time. Hours and days will go by without a thought about your ex. Time, as they say, is a healer. While it can be painful at first, it does get easier as the days and weeks go past.
