You will have to take a pair of pliers and rotate the calipar in a clockwise fashion while applying pressure. Be sure to line up the indentation on the calipar with the stubs on the brake pad.
How do you compress the rear break caliper, pistons on a 2002 Sierra ?
After you remove the tire and the pad the caliper has to be twisted to compress. Yo will not be able to compress using a C clamp. I can't remember if it is clock wise or counter clock wise.
Get a "U-clamp" that fits over the caliper and crank it down.
you need two special tools 1. A T60 torx bit to remove the caliper bolts 2. A caliper piston compressor two large c-clamps will work but compress evenly and SLOW
the caliper needs a special tool. the piston does not push straight in. the spring needs to be released at the rear of the caliper. then using the special tool the piston twists back in to place
Chevy came up with the brilliant idea of turn in calipers a number of years back. Check the inside of the caliper piston cup. If you see a square depression in the center, it is a turn or twist in caliper. DO NOT try to compress it. You'll damage the caliper and increase your brake job costs. Chances are when a brake caliper wont compress it is the type that must be turned and compressed at the same time and requires a special tool that you can borrow from a local chain auto parts like Auto Zone. That was the case on my 96 Buick Riveria rear disk brakes.
Remove the wheel. Next, remove the springs and the retaining clips. The brake pads will come off. Reverse the process to install the new brakes.
take the tire off and then remove the brake caliper remove the brake pads take a c clamp and compress the brake piston replace the pads then put the caliper back on tighten the caliper bolts put the tire back on then turn car on and push on the brakes a couple of times
Yes
be sure to purcahse the tool to "screw" the caliper piston in. If you try to push the piston in on rear disc brakes you will damange the caliper.
with a C clam , make sure the you use sameting to protec the piston
Begin by removing the tire and wheel from your 2000 Chevy Lumina. Remove the brake spring and the break caliper. The rear brakes will come off.
