There is no specific formula that can be applied as a standard for computing the width of avenues. Certain avenues like Broadway and Park Avenue can have different widths. Park avenue goes both ways as does third avenue and others in some places. Broadway runs diagonally often intersecting with other avenues like fifth avenue in Madison Square at 23rd street and other thru streets in the city.
